Rules & Regulations

Conduct & Discipline

  • All students are expected to cooperate with the College Administration in creating a climate of self-discipline, respecting rules and building cordial relationships on campus.
  • Students must abide by all the rules and regulations of the College that are currently in force, as well as those that may be formulated from time to time.
  • Students are prohibited from carrying cell phones, Walkmans and similar items into the classrooms.

College Timings

The college functions from 9:30 am. to 4:00 pm. on all working days. Students are not permitted to meet visitors from outside during working hours.

Dress Regulations

  • Students on campus are expected to wear their prescribed uniform, properly maintaining the decorum expected of members of the College.
  • Students are prohibited from wearing T-shirts, jeans and multi-pocket trousers.

Identity Card

  • Students shall always wear their identity card and produce it whenever required by the authorities.
  • In the event of loss of the identity card, the matter must be reported in writing to the Principal immediately.
  • The identity card is the property of the College and is non-transferable.

Attendance Required for Examinations

The College is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University and the University examinations are normally held in March and August.A student shall be permitted to appear for the University examination only if he/she:

  • Secures 85% attendance (i.e., 85 days out of 100 working days) in each semester.
  • Earns a certificate from the Head of the Institution confirming that he/she has satisfactorily completed the prescribed course of study under the non-semester system, as required by the regulations.
  • Maintains a satisfactory record of conduct.
  • Gives wholehearted cooperation to the staff and Head of the Institution during the teaching internship and demonstrates loyalty, devotion, discipline and the esprit de corps expected of a good teacher

Attendance

  • To have their name included in the attendance register of each subject, students must pay the required fees, obtain an admission slip from the office and present it to the teacher concerned
  • If a student does not register his/her name in all the classes within ten days of admission, his/her admission will be cancelled. No requests for re-admission shall be entertained.
  • Students must pay their fees and complete other formalities at the time of joining the College. Attendance/absenteeism shall be recorded from the date of commencement of each class as per the College calendar.
  • If a student is continuously absent from classes without permission for a period of five days, his/her name shall be removed from the rolls. However, re-admission may be granted upon providing a satisfactory explanation and paying the prescribed re-admission fee within the next five days. Requests for relaxation in attendance on account of participation in official functions of Scouts, Sports, or other College-organized activities must be submitted to the Principal within ten days of the function/activity.
  • Attendance at the Annual Camp (training in community life, social service, etc.) shall be compulsory

Leave Rules

  • Leave applications, in rare and exceptional circumstances, must be signed jointly by the student and the parent/local guardian and should be submitted at least 24 hours prior to availing the leave.
  • All leave letters from students to the College should be addressed to the Principal, duly countersigned by the parent/guardian and routed through the department lecturer in charge.
  • In emergency situations, when staying away from class/hostel without prior approval becomes unavoidable, the student must inform the College at the earliest opportunity by phone, fax, or e-mail and have the absenteeism regularized by submitting an application letter within five days of the commencement of the absence.
  • An application for leave on medical grounds must be supported by a certificate from a medical practitioner approved by the College.

Examinations and Tests

  • All students are expected to write the examinations and tests conducted as and when notified by the College.
  • All practical records and assignments (B.Ed.) should be submitted well before the stipulated date.

Breach of Discipline

  • Ragging and the use of cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol, as well as theft within or outside the campus, are strictly prohibited.
  • Discourtesy or indecent behavior towards fellow students, including “eve-teasing,” will not be tolerated.
  • Visiting places or areas declared by the Principal as “Out of Bounds” for students, impersonation, or giving a false name is prohibited.
  • Irregularity in attendance, persistent idleness, negligence, or indifference towards assigned work will be considered a violation of discipline.
  • Disobeying the instructions of teachers or the College Administration, or misconduct of any nature towards a teacher, employee, or visitor to the College, is considered an offense.
  • Misconduct or misbehavior of any nature in the examination hall, during elections to student bodies, or at curricular/co-curricular activities; causing disturbances in classrooms, laboratories, workshops, libraries, auditoriums, playgrounds, offices, hostels, or any other part of the campus is strictly prohibited.
  • Causing damage to, spoiling, or disfiguring the property or equipment of the College is an offense.
  • Organizing unions/associations based on color, creed, language, nationality, or political ideology within the campus without prior written approval of the Principal is prohibited.
  • Giving publicity to misleading accounts or spreading rumors among students is strictly forbidden.
  • Any other conduct deemed unbecoming of a student will be considered a disciplinary offense.
  • Breach of any other rule as framed by the College from time to time will invite disciplinary action.

Disciplinary Procedure

  • The disciplinary procedure is based on the assumption that a student with behavioral or adjustment problems can be helped through an educative and counseling approach and by following the principles of “Natural Justice.”
  • A student alleged to have committed misconduct will be given an opportunity to know the charges and to defend himself/herself.
  • Punishment, if awarded upon completion of the disciplinary procedure, may take the form of a warning, fine, suspension, or expulsion from the Hostel/College, depending on the gravity of the misconduct.
  • The parent/guardian of the student will be kept informed. If the gravity of the misconduct warrants, the student may be suspended from the College during the disciplinary proceedings.
  • A student who is awarded a punishment will be free to appeal to the Principal, whose decision shall be final.
  • The Principal may delegate his authority to Senior Lecturers, members of the Teaching Staff, or a Disciplinary Committee, as he deems appropriate. A student who is expelled as a result of disciplinary action will forfeit all fees paid to the College.

Uniform/ Dress Code

  • ✔️ Students should wear clean and decent dress. Wearing jeans, T-shirts, or jeans-type cotton pants is strictly prohibited inside the campus.
  • ✔️ Boys should tuck in their shirts and wear only black or brown leather shoes while inside the campus.
  • ✔️ Male students are required to be clean-shaven or maintain neatly trimmed facial hair. They are not permitted to have any form of beard styles such as French, long, etc.
  • ✔️ Girls should wear only the prescribed uniform saree. Wearing half-sarees, midis, short-sleeve tops, tight pants and jeans is strictly prohibited inside the campus.
  • ✔️ Students should wear the respective uniforms and shoes when attending practical classes.
  • ✔️ Students are advised not to wear loose-fitting shirts or pants during workshop practicals.
  • ✔️ Students must compulsorily wear their ID cards with a sling in the campus, classrooms and also in the college bus. Failure to do so will result in stern action.
